To the surprise of all, those brilliant bringers of bouncing experimental post-electroskapunkafunkatronica beats, Dash Pow, have announced a brand-new three-part non-musical release. Entitled “Alternate Realities,” the album will be at retail approximately twenty feet from now, and, according to a recent interview with band frontman W. Curry Bartholomew, does contain a continuation of the “Leave [...]

Music Post IX

After a long stint in the recording studio (during which they did, indeed, roll the marijuana up and smoke it like a cigarette), the reviled, renowned, and now revisited experimental post-skapunkafunkatronica group The Breadmakers has released their new album; “Haunted by Sourdough-Applesauce”. A partial continuation (non-canonical, they insist) of their previous work, “Leave It, Take [...]

Music Post VII

After putting three albums on hiatus (stating no reason beyond “because we felt like it”), Glasses + Mirror have finally released a fourth, previously unannounced title, “Always Something to See.” In this punchy and energetic collection of Experimental Post-Skapunkafunkatronica, the masters of the genre continue to innovate anew, while still hanging on to the roots [...]

A sad letter to Alaska.

Dear Alaska, I think it’s time for us to see other states/people. I know this probably isn’t what you wanted to hear, or how you wanted to hear it, but I needed to get it all off my chest.

Time travels so quickly, here.

I realized today that it has been well over a year since I departed the ‘Gulch. Doesn’t seem nearly that long ago, but, as the title suggests, time is strangely fast in these parts. Maybe it’s the lack of familiarity, or the newness, or some application of barometric pressure.

Dead Space; or: why I keep yelling “OH MY GOD” at the top of my lungs.

I do not envy our building manager, a quiet, friendly man, who lives directly beneath High Charity. He’s been made to deal with drunken yelling, drunken falling-all-over-the-floor, Rock Band, belligerent yelling, and Rock Band 2. Unfortunately, with this most recent game release, he’s sure to hear more than that — including, probably, a few things [...]

With apologies to Mr. Blow

He was so unsure, the prince. The worries tugged at his hands, and drew lines on his face. Perhaps he didn’t have reason to worry, perhaps he did; he could never tell one way or the other. It had been so long, he had given up trying to tell. One night (or was it every [...]

The Modern “Blast from the Past”

Last night I downloaded the demo of Castle Crashers for the Xbox 360. Not too long after that, I unlocked it. Castle Crashers is, at first glance, a delightful, four-player romp harkening to the Sunset Riders, X-Men and TMNT: Turtles in Time arcade games — simple, fun brawling games et al. Never without a sense [...]

The trip home was excellent. If you missed my visit, then you are a chump, and should visit Seattle to make it up. — For those who don’t own an Xbox 360, there’s some wonderful news for you: Braid is going to be released on PC sometime this year. For the uninitiated, Braid is a [...]

As it turns out,

piracy is rampant at LANs here. The difference is that of hardware — people have generally better machines, and so, newer games are pirated. More as I discover it.
